Planning a Successful Career Fair

There are many tips to follow for planning a successful career fair. At a career fair, you are trying to appeal to job seekers who may or may not have the direction necessary to understand where they want to go in life. Many are unsure of what they want to choose for their career path. Make the career fair informative, useful and educational for both the employers and the attendees.

Tips for a successful career fair

One of the most important aspects of a career fair is the target audience that you are trying to attract. If you are going to an elementary school, it is wise to focus on the type of interests that young kids want to know about such as firemen, police officers, doctors and dentists. For college campuses, look at popular career fields and invite employers in those areas.

Logistics

Additionally, have a logistics plan in place. Scope out the location ahead of time and determine how much room you have for the employers to set up their tables. Also estimate how many people you think will attend. Check on any audio or visual needs and keep in constant contact with the presenters. Advertise well in advance with the radio, press releases, emails and flyers.

It is important to plan in advance when prepping for a career fair, especially at an elementary or high school. Take into consideration both the logistical and practical issues to synchronize the best possible fair for the school.
